Philip is the owner of the business having purchased it in 1992, ensuring that the business remained in the family. The business was originally started in 1970 by Philip’s uncle, Ted Lumley.
Since 1992 the business has expanded considerably, whilst still remaining focused on ensuring it’s customers receive quality products with friendly and helpful service.
Having been a keen gardener for many years, Philip has a good knowledge of most plant and garden related things and is willing to pass on any advice and tips. He has also kept dogs in the past and has attended the relevant nutritional courses for both dogs and cats, and so is willing to discuss and advise on your pets requirements in this area.
Philip’s hobbies include walking, reading, bell ringing and travelling.
Bernice has practically been ever present since Philip took over the business, as she started in June 1992.
She has a great knowledge of dogs and has two of her own – Woody the black labrador who can often been seen at the shop, and Mitch the Jack Russell.
Bernice also has experience with small animals, having bred and kept rabbits and other small furries and has attended nutritional courses for both dogs and cats, and so can discuss and advise on this subject.
Her hobbies include walking (particularly in the countryside), reading and attending dog shows.
Paul started as a ‘Saturday boy’ at the tender age of 14 back in 1998, becoming a full time employee and member of the team in September 2002.
Keeping tropical fish is a passion of Paul’s and so he has a sound knowledge of all things fish. He also has two cats and so can give advice regarding your feline friends.
Paul has also attended nutritional courses for both cats and dogs and so will be more than happy to give you any advice regarding this.
In his spare time Paul likes to listen to music, and other hobbies include cars and gadgets.
