As we head into May, the days are getting warmer but there is still a chill in the air just to remind us Summer is not yet here.
Have you heard the cuckoo yet? The saying goes:
“The cuckoo comes in April,
Sings his song in May,
Changes tune in the middle of June then he flies away.”
After the harsh Winter, which lasted for months, we have been rewarded with a glorious Spring. The daffodils & tulips have been fantastic in colour and size, and have lasted a long time. The cold weather has kick started all the plants into life.
You Need To Be Very Careful Now…
The sun has a lot of warmth in it now especially behind glass. If you are taking your dog in the car and leaving it in there when you park make sure you leave the car in the shade.
Also check if the car will be in shade all the time you are away from it; don’t forget the sun goes round. Leave some water as well, however if possible take your dog with you or leave it at home in the cool.
Have you thought of having a safety belt for your dog? It is a harness that the dog wears with a strap that either clips into the normal car belt holder or a strap that goes onto the seat belt when it is clipped in.
You can use a crate in the boot or a guard that keeps the dog in the boot area. The reason for restraining your animal is if you were involved in an accident it would stop the dog being thrown around the car and harming itself and you.
Another month has passed and the sun has been shining. I like the frosty mornings as there are so many nice smells like fox, badger and lots more. Mitch and I get moaned at for stopping at every one.
The shop has been busy in the mornings, then a quiet time early afternoons as I expect people are enjoying the sun.
There is always a rush on when they are trying to clear up before closing. I sometimes have a late dinner because we are late closing but I don’t mind.
Now the weather has improved I see more of my friends in the shop, as customers like to bring them in. I like to get up and greet them as I am very friendly and I like to have a good sniff. Not every dog appreciates my attentions though.
I was going to introduce to the ferrets this month but due to technical problems, my paws are too big to use a mouse. I hope to sort it for the June issue.
