The weather has changed, some rain and cooler mornings and evenings; autumn is on its way.
The countryside is changing, although the rain has made the grass green up and grow again, the trees and hedges are beginning to look as if they have had enough and are getting ready to shed there leaves and shut down for winter.
I saw some swallows this week lining up on telephone wires preparing for their migration too.
The birds and animals all seem to be busy foraging for food, perhaps preparing for the shorter days. Laying down a good layer of fat to sustain them through the winter months.
Our pets and us don’t need to put on weight to help us through the cold months as we always have a good supply of nourishment. Perhaps now is a good time to check your pets weight and make sure they maintain a healthy lifestyle and not carry excess weight.
Worming and flea treatments should be checked, to make sure they are up to date, as your pet will be spending more time indoors.
The RSPB have said that the only time during the year when the birds have plenty of natural food is the autumn, with the abundance of seeds, berries and nuts. However a good supply of quality seed, nuts and water in your garden will supplement this and they will continue feeding during the winter providing you a wonderful spectacle when things become difficult for them.

As you probably know Woody had a hip replacement in July.
Unfortunately it was not successful and he has had to have another operation to replace part of it. Which means he will require 6 more weeks complete rest.
All seems to be going well this time, fingers crossed.
Apple is still keeping the bed warm and eating any chews that customers buy for her.
